De all-star show van John Prine op het Newport Folk Festival 2017 zal in oktober op vinyl worden uitgebracht. De set van de overleden songwriter bevat gastoptredens van Roger Waters, Jim James, Justin Vernon, Margo Price, Nathaniel Rateliff en Lucius.

Het festival kondigde de dubbel-LP, “John Prine And Friends”, aan op sociale media en schreef: “De opbrengst ondersteunt de lopende initiatieven van de Newport Festivals Foundation ter ondersteuning van muzikanten en muziekprogramma’s in het hele land. We houden van je en missen je, John!”

Het album bevat Justin Vernon op “Bruised Orange (Chain of Sorrow)”, Jim James op “All The Best”, Margo Price op “In Spite Of Ourselves”, Nathaniel Rateliff op “Sam Stone”, Roger Waters en Lucius op “Hello In There” en de volledige groep op het afsluitende “Paradise”.
