Charlie Black, country songwriter en lid van Nashville Songwriters Hall Of Fame, is op 23 april op 71-jarige leeftijd overleden. Hij schreef songs voor Paul Anka, Brenda Lee, Roy Orbison, Kenny Rogers, Lynn Anderson, John Conlee, Crystal Gayle, Lee Greenwood, Andy Williams, Juice Newton, Tanya Tucker, Phil Vassar, Tommy Overstreet, Charlie Rich, Reba McEntire, Jerry Reed, the Osmond Brothers, Alan Jackson, Collin Raye, Bobby Bare, Don Williams, Joe Nichols en George Strait.

Charlie Black won de titel SESAC Country Songwriter of the Year in 1979, en werd benoemd tot ASCAP Country Songwriter of the Year in 1983 en 1984. In 1991 werd hij bevestigd als lid van de Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1991.
